10 Incredible Stats and Facts You Need to Know about PageSpeed

By Ariel Rule

10_facts_cover-minDuda has been making a bit of a splash in the website builder industry this month as we are now the only Google Preferred Website Builder tackling PageSpeed head on.

With all the backend dev work and tireless hours spent in building an even better platform for our DudaPros and Partners, we’re happy to announce that Duda sites now score in the high 90s of Google’s PageSpeed Test.

As you likely already know, Google made PageSpeed a rank factor back in 2010 and while it may not have had a direct impact on SEO in times past, we’ve come to learn that people and Google alike want the web to be faster for everyone — especially mobile viewers.

In case you’re on the fence of believing that PageSpeed is something we should all be paying attention to in this day and age, we decided to put together some interesting facts and data about this rising star metric.

Don’t Think PageSpeed Is Important? Well, Google Does. Here Are Their New Industry Benchmarks

  • Average Request Count should be fewer than 50
  • Average Page Weight Bytes Should Be Less Than 500KB
  • Average Speed Index Should Be Three Seconds Or Less
  • Average Time to First Byte Should Be Under 1.5 Seconds

So there you have it.

These are the new benchmarks that Google has set for us, and the bar has been raised undoubtedly high here. Since PageSpeed directly relates to user friendliness, and therefore conversion, it’s not hard to see why this metric has been gaining more attention.

The more studies Google does, the more they see that people want sites that load fast. As the main search engine of the world, Google has a lot of users to keep happy.

Fast sites make for happy users. And making users happy makes Google happy too.
